Why Shopify merchants choose eSyncer for Essendant
Built for Essendant’s data model — not generic CSV import
Essendant products arrive as structured XML (OAGIS / USSCO format), not a simple flat file. eSyncer parses each item file and maps rich distributor data into Shopify:
| Essendant feed data | What Shopify gets |
|---|---|
| List price | Base feed price with your margin % applied |
| Hourly stock file | Quantity updates from inventory CSV |
| Brand master | Manufacturer name + optional brand logo metafield |
| Specifications | Technical attributes → metafields or description tables |
| Selling points 1–10 | Dedicated Shopify metafields for merchandising |
| Warranty, OEM part #, country of origin | Searchable product detail |
| Images | High-resolution OP Pictures assets (1500px variants) |
| Product video | Vimeo URLs embedded in long description |
| MSDS | Linked safety sheets where applicable |
| Compliance flags | Green / recyclable / small package / returnable / assembly indicators |
That is substantially more than a basic “import SKU + price” app — it is a catalog operations layer between Essendant and Shopify.
Brand Selector
Not every Essendant brand fits your positioning. The admin UI loads every brand from the party master file and lets you choose exactly which manufacturers sync to Shopify. Unselected brands are skipped during import.
Collections & categories
Essendant uses a multi-level US category tree. eSyncer builds the tree from feed relationships, lets you map categories → Shopify collections, supports automatic collection suggestions, and applies mappings on insert and update.
Pricing & margins
Wholesale list price comes from the feed. eSyncer applies global margin, per-product margin, and optional price-range rules. Price Inspector validates Shopify prices after every sync.
Inventory & images
Stock is read from Essendant’s hourly inventory file and pushed to Shopify. Image Inspector finds missing images, shows per-client queue stats, and lets you reset sync hashes to force re-download.
Metafields mapped in UI
Map supplier fields to Shopify metafield namespaces through Attribute Mapping — no code deploy for each new field. Warranty, selling points, brand image, dimensions, and more.
Ink & toner intelligence
For relevant categories, Matchbook compatibility data (manufacturer, device, family, model) improves titles, tags, and category placement for high-volume supply SKUs.
Essendant product sync for Shopify
1. Feed acquisition (SFTP)
The connector connects to Essendant’s MFT endpoint and retrieves:
- SyncPartyMaster — brand / party master data
- Individual item XML — one file per SKU
- Catalog & relationship archives — category structure
- Hourly inventory CSV — stock positions
Feeds are cached, unpacked, and processed in batches sized for large catalogs.
2. Product creation (insert)
- Skips SKUs already imported
- Respects Brand Selector and optional included-product lists
- Builds Shopify-ready products: title, HTML description, tags, vendor, images, price, quantity, collections
- Tracks Shopify product IDs for all future updates
3. Ongoing updates
You choose which fields refresh automatically on each CRON run:
- Quantity — from latest stock file
- Collections / categories — when mapping changes
- Images — when feed media changes
- Published status — push to all sales channels when configured
4. Optional variant grouping
Multiple Essendant SKUs can roll into one Shopify product with variants (shared group ID from the feed), reducing duplicate listings for closely related items.
Essendant order sync & dropshipping
eSyncer closes the loop between Shopify checkout and Essendant fulfillment.
- A Shopify order is captured in eSyncer (manual trigger or automated workflow).
- Line items are mapped to Essendant item numbers with quantity and unit price.
- eSyncer builds a ProcessPurchaseOrder XML document (OAGIS format) with ship-to address and per-line SKUs.
- The XML is uploaded to Essendant’s SFTP inbound folder.
- Outbound responses (AcknowledgePurchaseOrder, ShowShipment) can be parsed for acknowledgment and tracking IDs.
- No re-keying orders into Essendant’s portal
- Fewer shipping delays from manual errors
- Audit trail in eSyncer logs and stored order payloads
- Scalable dropshipping as order volume grows
